West Sound Business Expo

February 2013

Kitsap Young Professionals continued to make connections in the community when they attended the 2013 West Sound Business Expo on February 21st.  A collaboration by eight West Sound Chambers of Commerce (Port Orchard Chamber, Gig Harbor Chamber, Bremerton Chamber, North Mason Chamber, Silverdale Chamber, Poulsbo Chamber, Kingston Chamber and Bainbridge Island Chamber), this annual event was open to the public and allows attendees to shop, browse, network, and see what local businesses and organizations are doing and offering.

Candace Edwards and Trish Tierney handed out KYP business cards to potential members and networked with both the public and local business owners.  They also staffed the Port Orchard Chamber’s booth to answer questions and hand out flyers about KYP.

Heart for the Homeless 5K

April 2013

Kitsap Young Professional’s May event was the Heart for the Homeless 5K Fun Run/Walk, held in Bremerton as a fundraiser for Kitsap Rescue Mission and its programs.  _#_ KYP members participated in this event that traversed bridge-to-bridge – beginning from Evergreen Park and over both the Warren Avenue and the Manette bridges, looping back to a triumphant finish at Evergreen Park.

KYP members concluded the run with breakfast at the Bremerton Bar and Grill.  A special thanks to them for being so welcoming and for accommodating our large group!

Port Tour 2013

Earlier this spring the KYP had the opportunity to tour the Port of Bremerton, including the Bremerton Airport.  For those of you who may not know the Port of Bremerton is home to 37+ businesses and account for over 1000 jobs in Kitsap County.  The Port also operates the Bremerton and Port Orchard marinas and is able to leverage this operation in a way that give back to the community more than double what they receive in revenue.
